WordPress is an open-source software platform that began as a blogging engine, but became a strong platform for business websites of all kinds. Statistically, WordPress is the #1 platform for managing a website of any kind, and 27% of the entire Internet is powered by WordPress, including many of the top websites in the world.

Net Elevation chooses WordPress as a platform for most projects. However, it is never simply an “ou-of-the-box” installation. Over the years, we have developed ways to customize and improve WordPress for the situations common in the small business world. While WordPress has always been fairly simple to use, one of our goals is to make it even easier and more streamlined.

There are thousands of guides to using WordPress in every imaginable scenario. However, the easiest solution is simply to ask your web consultant, who will help you with any question that comes up.

If you have a WordPress site, it’s pretty easy. (If you’re not sure, ask your web consultant.)

First, access your WordPress login. Then, select the “Pages” tab. You’ll see a list of all the pages on your site. Click the correct one, and you will see some text fields containing the text portions of your page. Make your edits, then click the orange “Update” button. In a separate tab, open the page on your site to review the changes.

This is a basic summary of the process. Your site may have unique variations – check with your web consultant for help.

In most cases, you cannot use Dreamweaver or other editing tools on your site. Likewise, you cannot directly edit the HTML source code of a WordPress page, in the traditional sense. If in doubt, always ask your web consultant.

Most Net Elevation websites are powered by WordPress, a popular platform that we have customized. On WordPress websites, the login page is usually located on the wp-login page: http://www.myDomain.com/wp-login.php

Once you’ve reached the login page, you can always use the “Forgot Password” function to reset your password. You only need to enter your e-mail address. When logged into WordPress, you can view a list of your pages and make edits.

If your website is NOT on WordPress, then you may need to login through Cpanel or an FTP program. You’ll need some technical skills to handle this, so it’s best to contact your web consultant unless you know what you are doing.
